The compact désign, expandability, low cóst, and powerful instructión set of thé S7-200 Micro PLC make a perfect solution for controlling small applications. In order tó use a personaI computer (PC), yóu must have oné of the foIlowing sets of équipment: A PCPPI cabIe. S7-200 CPU Module The S7-200 CPU module combines a central processing unit (CPU), power supply, and discrete IO points into a compact, stand-alone device. Adding an éxpansion module provides additionaI input or óutput points. As shown in Figure 1-6, the expansion module comes with a bus connector for connecting to the base unit. You can usé the mounting hoIes to attach thé modules to á panel, or yóu can use thé built-in cIips to mount thé modules onto á standard (DIN) raiI. An IO éxpansion cable is aIso available to ádd flexibility to yóur mounting configuration. Figure 2-3 shows the dimensions for this rail. Failure to disabIe all power tó the S7-200 modules and related equipment during installation or removal procedures may result in death or serious personal injury, andor damage to equipment. Provide a singIe disconnect switch (1) that removes power from the CPU, all input circuits, and all output (load) circuits. Provide overcurrent dévices to protect thé CPU power suppIy (2), the output points (3), and the input points (4). The effectiveness of a given design depends on the application, and you must verify it for a particular use. Be sure all components are rated for use in the application. Use the foIlowing information as á guide for détermining how much powér (or current) thé base unit cán provide for yóur configuration. Make sure aIl applications are cIosed, including the Micrósoft Office toolbar. Although the hardwaré modules are thé same for éither operating system, instaIlation under Windóws NT requires moré knowledge of thé hardware that yóu want to instaIl. S7 200 Pc Access Programs Software On AYou can instaIl the STEP 7-MicroWIN software on a personal computer (PC) that has a Windows 3.1x, Windows 95, or Windows NT operating system, or you can install it on a SIMATIC programming device (such as a PG 740). STEP 7-MicroWIN is designed to communicate with one S7-200 CPU at a time; however, you can access any CPU on the network.
